A great deal was accomplished this week!
We began our study of letters and letter sounds this week by introducing the uppercase and lowercase letters 'F' and 'A.' Ask your child what sounds these letter make. Don't forget to ask for the short ä and the long ā sounds. We learn hand motions that we call "alphabet actions" to help us with letter sounds. Through integration of movement and literacy, children are able to learn and retain new information through using more of their senses. Every week, we will be sending home letter books. Please read over these together at home, and create a letter book bin for your home library!
We also learned three new sight words! Ask your child how to spell the words "I," "A," and "at." Point them out in a text and ask them to read the word. Ask if they recognize any other sight words within a text.
Letters: F, A
Sight Words: I, a, at
