The boys and girls in 003 have created their very own classroom pond! We looked at images of freshwater plants, and worked together in groups to create them for our pond! We collected items such as sticks and stones to add some finishing touches. We even have some stuffed animal friends hanging out at the pond!
Kindergartners have really enjoyed watching Mr. Lewis teach P.E. class outdoors with the older grades. In fact, they like it so much that they decided to join in! For the past few days, some Kindergarten friends have chosen to spend their body breaks participating in P.E. class from the edge of the playground! What fun!
In Pattern Land, all of the people move in patterns! We worked in small groups to first identify the pattern unit, then chose different movements to match with each part of our pattern unit. We then read the pattern and moved together as a group! It was so much fun! Take a look at the slideshow below! |
We also used tiles to build pattern paths! We made different pattern paths using just 10 square tiles!
We were so incredibly lucky to be the winners of "Half Hour of Happy!" Thanks to our amazing parents, we were able to enjoy yoga outside with Mikhaila, and a healthy smoothie from Fennel & Irish!
Ms. Skibba and Mr. Roe came in to visit us this week and gave us a lesson on how handling iPads. He learned about butterfly touches (tapping gently) and ice-skating (dragging)! We don't use gorilla touches! We learned that we must always leave our iPads flat on the table when using them, and must hold them with two hands when returning them to the basket. We also learned that it's important to make sure the iPad touches the bottom of the basket! Ms. Skibba and Mr. Roe stayed with us during center time to guide us using the classroom iPads for the very first time!
On Friday, we celebrated the end of our Personal Narrative unit of writing with an author share! We invited friends from Ms. Ridolfi's class into our room to share our stories, and then we got a chance to hear their personal narratives, too!
