This week, we continued to work on rhyming words. We played rhyming word concentration to help us hear that rhyming words sound the same at the end. It can be difficult to decipher if two words rhyme or if they just share the same ending sound. This is something that becomes easier with practice.
We have read many new books by our mentor author, Mo Willems. We have noticed many techniques that he uses in his books, like speech bubbles, movement lines, and exclamation points! We love Elephant & Piggie, and that funny little Pigeon that keeps popping up everywhere!
In math, we have been continuing to work on growing patterns. Growing patterns are patterns that grow by the same number each time! We have been using manipulatives such as unifix cubes to represent growing patterns heard in stories such as "There was an Old Lady" and "The Farmer in the Dell."
We have been studying the map of Mexico and learning all about the geography and landforms. We have been practicing our note-taking skills and have been sharing what we learned with our peers!
Holiday Hoopla is quickly approaching! We have been practicing our song and it's really sounding great! We hope you can make it to our performance on Thursday, December 17th!
Our Author Share is Friday, December 18th at 9:15. Come and take a peak at what we have been working on in Writing Workshop!
