This week, we learned two new letters and letter sounds. It is still important to practice these letter sounds at home, especially now that we have learned so many!
We continued to talk about visualizing this week as we read some more books by our mentor author, Kevin Henkes. Visualizing helps us become active readers and improves our story comprehension.

The boys and girls in room 003 are now published authors! Children selected their favorite book and checked to make sure it met publishing criteria. Once the covers were made, each child shared their book with the group! We love to listen to our author friends, but we also learn so much from them! Share time is an incredibly valuable part of Writing Workshop.
We created an object graph using our shoes to determine what type of shoe is most common in our classroom! This is an engaging and fun way to count, sort, and compare various objects! We then created a picture graph based on our object graph.
We talked a lot about the different people in our community, and the important roles they play. We got into a discussion about how we can help our community, and we began brainstorming different ways that we can make a difference. We decided we would host a food drive for the Lakeview Pantry to benefit those in our community who do are in need of food and other supplies.
We revisited our classroom promise and talked in length about bullying and how we can be the ONE to make a difference. Please continue to have these conversations at home so we can all work together to keep our environment one that is happy, safe, and welcoming.
