Thank you so much for coming to conferences on Wednesday. We know it can be difficult to find time in the schedule, but it means the world to us to have open lines of communication between parents and teachers. It was great to sit down with you and discuss your child’s progress. Looking forward to our next meeting!
We began a new unit in writing workshop at the same time as we were introduced to our new mentor author, Mo Willems! We are studying the illustrations in Mo Willems books to guide us through our Illustration Unit! We have talked about drawing people not sticks, making people look different, incorporating different points of view, and so much more!
In phonics, we continue to work on identifying and matching ending sounds. We have been playing a number of matching and sorting games to help us practice this skill.
We added two new sight words to our word wall! We learned the words “dad” and “yes.” We learned the letters and sounds for “Y” and “C.” Ask us about the soft and hard sound for the letter C.

In Math, we have been practicing recognizing quantities by using five and ten as benchmarks. We have been using comparative language such as more or greater than, the same or equal to, and less than or fewer than. Ask your child to compare different quantities of items at home using this language!

In our Freshwater unit, we discussed the many ways we use water in our daily lives. We talked about the importance of water conservation, and vowed to cut down on our water usage to help our planet. Ask your Kindergartner for water conservation tips!
On Friday, we had the opportunity to be audience members at the poetry assembly in the gym. We listened to students in 2nd and 3rd grade recite poetry. We really enjoyed it, and were especially excited to see our 3rd grade buddies on stage!

Thank you so much to all who purchased books for our classroom library. It is truly the focal point in our classroom, and so we are thrilled to see it grow!
