September is flying by as the friends in room 003 are busy at work!
We ended our day today with our very first visit from our 3rd grade buddies! It's an incredibly valuable part of our Friday schedule. We read, we laugh, we talk, we learn. Our buddies are role models!
This week we introduced two new letter sounds and two new sight words! A great way to reinforce new letters and sounds is to use picture sorts at home. If you find yourself saying a word that starts with a letter that we have focused on, stress the beginning sound, and ask your child what letter makes that sound! Don't forget to have them show you the alphabet action for the sound! Another reinforcement method is to have your child identify letters and sight words within text. This can be done during your daily reading time, or in any environmental print you may find!
We are absolutely enthralled with our author in focus, Kevin Henkes, and have been reading many of his books. We noticed that many of his books have mice as characters, so we decided to take a closer look at each mouse and compare and contrast personality traits!
Stay tuned for more learning!
