We celebrated 100 days of Kindergarten on Monday, February 22nd, and what a wonderful day it was! We have made so much growth since the beginning of the school year, and there’s no sign of slowing down any time soon!
For the past two weeks, we have been practicing having book talks with peers. We talk about things such as characters; what they’re doing, how they’re feeling, and why they’re feeling that way. We might also talk about favorite parts, illustrations, or what we thought about the ending! The possibilities are endless. Additionally, we have been leaving “tracks” of our thinking on the text. We write our reactions, connections, questions, observations, feelings, and just about any thought that pops into our head!

In phonics, we spent some time stretching out words to islolate the middle sounds.
On Friday, we shared our How-To books! We were so excited to share our books with friends, and loved hearing our friends share their books with us!
We are deep into our study of magnets, and are loving all of the hands-on activities and experiments in this unit! We learned about magnetism, the poles of a magnet (how they repel or attract), magnetic force, and so much more!
In math, we have been discussing attributes of shapes. We have been practicing identifying and classifying them into multiple categories. We even combined some shapes to build new shapes! Ask us about what makes a shape! You can also ask us what the difference is between a polygon and a non-polygon! We are shape experts!
Chicago Public School are rolling out a new report card for the third quarter. An information letter, report card guide, and a sample report card should be making their way home today (Friday) in your child’s folder.
